“Healthy people are grateful for life’s simple treasures. Be H.I.P. Express gratitude to those you treasure.” ~ Coach T
The letter H in the H.I.P. acronym represents healthy. Most people associate the word healthy immediately with food, diet and exercise. However, embedded in the H.I.P. movement is the conscious association of having and maintaining a healthy mind and consciousness so as to drive the physical expression (your body and affairs) in the right gears.
Healthy people consciously choose to practice making higher choices. They make it a practice to live from the calling of their souls and the insights that are given from their internal wisdom. They understand that watering the seeds of consciousness occurs with tools of prayer, meditation, silence, visioning and other methods. They wake up to the truth that living from this place of existence allows them to be a beneficial presence in the world.

“Purposeful people practice gratitude. Gratitude is the key to giving & receiving abundance. Be H.I.P. Choose to evolve & be grateful.” ~ Coach T
There are some morning when gratitude is not on your mind. Whether it stems from the happenings of the night before, perhaps the dream landscape or even just the way in which you wake up. It’s simply just not there as your first thought. This is the moment when you automatically move into habit. One such habit for me is – reach for my glass or bottle of water that I placed on the nightstand before going to bed, opening the cap, taking a drink and quietly saying “Thank You Spirit”.
There are no other words at this point. Just a thank you as recognition that my eyes opened up this morning. I begin to feel the sensation of my body and become aware of the movements (perhaps ask what day it is – to myself of course). This particular morning I am feeling a sensation of hopelessness, a tinge of desperation, a rush of I must figure things out. Ego rears its head with an onslaught of questions that is saying “lay in bed a little longer than usual – you know you don’t feel like doing anything today.”

I have a friend from High School that experiences panic attack to the point of going to the emergency room from time to time. Her panic attacks are induced by fear, what others thing about her etc… really she lives a life where she isn’t stepping on anyone’s toes. At the time when these episodes came about I wasn’t aware of the severity or nature of these episodes. I didn’t grasp the feeling tone or what was talking place with her, all that was beyond my understanding. Now, anything that happened in the group or individually she would be the first to say “I am sorry”…it was her nature, she explained to us on numerous occasions that she was raised to say I am sorry in the home.

The moment one gives close attention to anything even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself – Henry Miller
This week I invite you to slow down and be grateful. This month when thanksgiving is a way of life, find the joy within and shout out in gratitude for indeed, God is here, right here, right now, inside each breath, loving YOU. Allow yourself to feel it. There is a blessing within the process if we allow ourselves to see it. It gives us time to pay attention to the blade of grass or tree branches against the sky and thereby move within and find the joys of Spirit.
