A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself – Joseph Campbell
How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes – May Angelo
America is founded on the principles of freedom, justice and liberty for all. Recently we celebrated veterans day we honor those who have bravely served. Let us take a moment to remember those who sacrifice their lives every moment to achieve peace and freedom around the world.
For some however the holiday merely represents a day off from work. Let us change holiday to holy day, remembering the brave veterans who graduated school and were suddenly moved from lockers to foxholes in unfamiliar territories of conflict. Despite being surrounded by threatening conditions they dedicate their youth and energy to keep our country safe. Let us respect, honor, salute every veteran with deep thanksgiving for their sacrifices, blessing their families and friends who proudly and patiently support them.
President John F. Kennedy said it best “as we express our gratitude we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but the live them.” Ponder the thought that you too are a veteran of successfully overcoming personal challenges you may have had or are temporarily encountering.
Adopt the same attitude of courage and faith, believing that your highest, deepest desires manifest in God’s perfect timing for your highest good. Today choose to express gratitude for all veterans, including you.
Affirm: I give thanks for all veterans. I am a proud veteran of my life. I devote myself to persistent prayer practice, visualizing a joy-filled serene future as I continue to serve my family, friends, humanity and myself.
